Details
This is a Museum Quality Replica of an Anglo-Saxon Pottery Buckelurne dating from the 5th/6th Century AD.  It is in the Germanic style and burnished to produce a sheen that enhances the stunning colouring created during smoke firing.  The decoration of lines, bosses and a continuous bulging 'rope'  twist have been carefully hand modelled just as the original potter would have done.  The original urn was excavated from an Anglo-Saxon cemetery near the Romano-British settlement of Sandy in Bedfordshire and is on display in the British Museum.

Production

As with all my Museum Quality Replicas, I try to work in a way that is as close as possible  to the methods used by the ancient craftsmen and women who created the original. This pot has been made entirely hand using natural materials and tools that are replicas of those used by the original maker. It has been wood fired in direct contact with the fuel to achieve an authentic finish giving it the characteristic finish.  Finally it has been sealed with beeswax.

Then you can send it back at your own cost in an unused condition within 30 days, and we'll refund you for the cost of the item or items returned. If you include your order number with the returned package, that will speed things up. Please leave any original packaging intact.
