 Details

Made in the style of Humber ware, a type of pottery produced in North Yorkshire, this beautiful jug is based on a sherd from the collections at Hull Museum.  Dated to around the 13th-14th century it had been glazed in the hugely popular green glaze of the time.  

Long spouted green glazed jugs where very popular during the Medieval period and would have been widely used in taverns or domestic settings to serve beer or wine.

This replica has been hand made in Northumberland by Potted History, it is inspired by original artefacts.  As with the original this replica has been wheel formed, it has then been finished using a Green glaze to emulate the original glaze used.
