Egyptian Frog Oil Lamp
Handcrafted Replica Egyptian Frog Oil Lamp – 2nd-4th Century AD
Details
This replica Egyptian oil lamp is based on an original from the 2nd to 4th century AD. Frog motifs were a common theme on oil lamps of this period, as frogs were symbols of fertility and renewal in ancient Egyptian culture.
This belief likely arose from the way frogs emerged from the mud after the dry season along the Nile River, appearing as if reborn from the earth itself once the rains arrived.
Designed for practical use, this lamp provides hours of light from a single wick when used correctly.
