Handcrafted Replica Newark Anglo-Saxon Bowl

Details

This impressive Anglo-Saxon bowl is a replica of an original unearthed in Newark, during excavations at Slaughter House Lane in 1958, 1978, and 1988, as part of a redevelopment project.

The site, located on the edge of the River Trent, has shown evidence of continuous occupation from the Romano-British period into modern times. This bowl is one of many remarkable finds that offer insight into the everyday lives of the Anglo-Saxon inhabitants of the region.

Materials

  • Earthenware, reduction fired

Dimensions

  • Height: Approx. 150 mm
  • Diameter: Approx. 195 mm

Production

This replica has been handcrafted in our Northumberland studio, using authentic tools and techniques to ensure a historically accurate finish.

  • Each piece is individually made, following historical Anglo-Saxon pottery methods.
  • The reduction firing process creates unique surface colour and texture variations, just like the original artefact.
  • As with all handcrafted pottery, each bowl is one of a kind, making yours truly unique.

Hello Graham and Sarah, I wanted to message because I ordered your holy grail pot for my dad's birthday and he is over the moon with it.

I love it! I love everything about it, what it represents, why you made it and the history behind it. It was worth the wait! Thank you so much.
